OBJECTS OF DESIRE

"DO IT YOURSELF" is Misha Lindes’ first solo exhibition, an offbeat homage to the materials, textures, and overlooked details that shape the work behind the scenes.

A longtime presence in Los Angeles’ art and production scene, Lindes draws from years spent driving across the city, sourcing objects, scanning aisles, and finding possibility in the mundane. This show works like a small retrospective of those hours: a collection of paintings, sculptures, and makeshift inventions that recast everyday items through a lens of high-art curiosity.

A coroplast sign on a telephone pole, a chrome-plated power tool, a hand-painted advertisement - each piece invites us to look again at what we might usually pass by. In highlighting the surfaces and forms of the functional world, Lindes points to a quiet truth: there is a certain poetry in the parts and processes that hold everything else together.

Rooted in humor and care, "DO IT YOURSELF" honors the restless instinct to make, fix, and piece things together, and finds unexpected beauty in the work that often goes unseen.
